This blog mostly relates to the latter. You see, I am a writer... or so people tell me. In grade school, in high school, in college, people always told me that I could write. Of course, anyone can write, but they meant to imply that I was good at it, that I am meant for it. In fact, I went to college with the intent of becoming a writer and an editor, but there arose a kind of a snag:
I don't like to write.
There it is. My confession is out: I do not enjoy writing. Well, for the most part, that is. On very rare occasion (such as this), I actually have the urge to write. But in general, I'd rather be doing something else, like making a cup of coffee, drinking said cup of coffee, and footling around on Facebook or searching for new jazz music on Grooveshark. But over the past few months since graduation, I have come to a very sad realization:
No one wants to hire a writer who doesn't write.
Now you may be thinking "Duh! Of course no one will hire a writer who doesn't write." Well, that's because you should be. I think the very same thing. And that is how this blog came to be!
Here's my purpose statement for this blog:
"To teach myself the discipline and joy of writing, to gain experience as a writer, and to learn more about myself through musing on the things that I think, do, experience, and love."And so there it is. As time goes by, and I (hopefully) become a diligent blogger, my hope is that you will experience it with me; that you will learn about me as I learn about myself; and perhaps, just perhaps, you will come to love what I love. Because, dear blog-follower, I think they are just wonderful. And so should you. :)
